About this event

First, we’re going to lie down in a salt cave and do absolutely nothing. Then we’re going to have a drink.

Not just any drink.

Amaro is a bittersweet Italian liqueur made with all kinds of interesting things: roots, herbs, flowers, spices, citrus and botanicals. Long before it became something you might order after dinner at a very good restaurant, these kinds of herbal preparations were being made in monasteries, pharmacies and home kitchens, often with the idea that certain plants could help with digestion or other everyday ailments.

Eventually, people figured out something else: they were really good to drink. Amaro is complex, full of herbs and botanicals, and meant to be sipped slowly and enjoyed in a small glass. It seems a little bit old-fashioned and a little bit different.

We’ll begin with a slow, deeply restful guided meditation + singing bowls in the salt cave. You’ll get comfortable, close your eyes and let yourself drift into that wonderfully quiet place between awake and asleep.

Then we’ll get up, have a small pour of amaro and talk about what we’re drinking, what’s in it, and, inevitably, whatever else we end up talking about.

Space is limited, and this class often fills quickly. SHALA Members are free but please do reserve a spot.

(Since we will be in the Salt Cave the space is limited to only 12 people.)
